Schenke Receives AACE President's Award
November
14, 2011 -- Tamara Schenke became only the fourth
person in the history of the American Association of
Code Enforcement to receive the organization's
President's Award. The honor was bestowed upon
Tamara by AACE President Sherri Johnston at the 22nd
AACE Annual Conference, which was held November 1-3
at the Gaylord Opryland Resort & Convention
Center in Nashville, Tennessee.
Prior to beginning her career
in Code Enforcement, Tamara was hired with the City of
Belton in 2000 as a police dispatcher and received a
letter of commendation in her first year of employment for
going above and beyond the call of duty in assisting a
police officer during a hostage situation.
In 2003 Tamara was promoted to Code Enforcement Officer
and during her first year in this position wrote and
implemented a code enforcement policy and procedure
manual, a department training manual and implemented a
neighborhood cleanup program. In December of 2003 Tamara
was selected as Employee of the Year due to all of her
accomplishments.
Tamara has also created a
Citizens Education Programs that includes a quarterly
informational flyer on city codes which is distributed to
the citizens of Belton, is a member of the City’s Code
Review Committee, trains new Code Enforcement Officers and
implemented a power point training session for landlords,
homeowners associations and other groups and individuals
interested in learning more about city codes.
Tamara founding member and officer of the Heartland
Association of Code Enforcement (HACE). She has organized
training seminars held in the Kansas City Metro area and
helped organize MACE Annual Conferences. Tamara
currently serves as Secretary for the American Association
of Code Enforcement.

member who has exceeded their abilities and gone above and

After accepting the award, Tamara
said, "It is truly an honor for me to receive this
prestigious award. It shows that hard work and
dedication to your profession is appreciated."
