The Missouri Association
of Code Enforcement and the St. Louis Association
of Code Enforcement will present a seminar on
Residential Mechanical Inspections and
Residential Plumbing Inspections on Wednesday,
February 8. Sign-in opens at 8:30 a.m. and the
morning session gets underway at 9:00 a.m. There
will be an hour break for lunch, followed by the
afternoon session, which is scheduled to wrap up
at 4:00 p.m.
The instructors are John
Morgan, MCP for the mechanical portion and Art
Genasci, MCP for the plumbing portion. The day of
training will be held in the Municipal Courtroom
at the Maryland Heights Government Center,
located at 11911 Dorsett Road in Maryland
Heights. Participants will receive .6 Continuing
Education Units (CEU's).
The cost is $40 for
current MACE/SLACE members and $80 for
non-members. The non-member fee includes
membership in both MACE and SLACE for the
remainder of 2012. Coffee and donuts will be
provided in the morning and lunch will be served
mid-day.
Attendance at this
seminar will be limited to 50, so be sure to

St. Peters To Host
February SLACE Meeting
The February meeting of
the St. Louis Association of Code Enforcement is
slated for Wednesday, February 15 at 11:30 a.m.
at St. Peters City Hall, located at One St.
Peters Centre Blvd. (off Mexico road, west of
Jungermann and east of Spencer) in St. Peters.
Dan Flynn from
Negwer Life Safety will be the guest speaker. His
presentation will feature fire door installation.
Lunch will be

Firestopping Seminar
Coming February 23
The Missouri Association
of Code Enforcement and the St. Louis Association
of Code Enforcement will present a seminar on
firestopping on Thursday, February 23, 2012 at
Frontenac City Hall, located at 10555 Clayton
Road in Frontenac.
Dan Flynn from
Negwer Life Safety will be the presenter. This
will be a two-hour session starting at 10:00 a.m.
Participants will receive .2 Continuing Education
Units (CEU's).
Registration and

Foreclosures Are Topic Of
March SLACE Meeting
Learn how to deal with
regulations that affect property maintenance on
foreclosed properties at the March meeting of the
St. Louis Association of Code Enforcement
(SLACE). William Roach (left), Community
Relations Manager for LPS Field Services, will be the guest
speaker. He will also present information on how
to identify the responsible party of a foreclosed
property.
The meeting gets
underway at 11:30 a.m. with lunch and the regular
monthly business meeting, followed by Mr. Roach's
educational presentation, which is scheduled to
wrap up at approximately 1:00 p.m.
The City of
Bridgeton will host the March meeting at
Bridgeton City Hall, located at 12355 Natural
Bridge Road, Bridgeton, MO 63044.
Tamara Schenke Receives
AACE President's Award
November 14, 2011 --
Tamara Schenke became only the fourth person in
the history of the American Association of Code
Enforcement to receive the organization's
President's Award. The honor was bestowed upon
Tamara by AACE President Sherri Johnston at the
22nd AACE Annual Conference, which was held
November 1-3 at the Gaylord Opryland Resort &
Convention Center in Nashville, Tennessee.
Prior to
beginning her career in Code Enforcement, Tamara
was hired with the City of Belton in 2000 as a
police dispatcher and received a letter of
commendation in her first year of employment for
going above and beyond the call of duty in
assisting a police officer during a hostage
situation.
In 2003 Tamara
was promoted to Code Enforcement Officer and
during her first year in this position wrote and
implemented a code enforcement policy and
procedure manual, a department training manual
and implemented a neighborhood cleanup program.
In December of 2003 Tamara was selected as
Employee of the Year due to all of her

Benisch Elected First Vice
President Of AACE
November 14, 2011 -- MACE
President Johnny Benisch was elected First Vice
President of the American Association of Code
Enforcement (AACE). The election results were
announced at the organization's annual
conference, which concluded November 3. After
serving his term as First Vice President
(2011-12), Benisch will accede to the Presidency
of the national organization for 2012-13 term.
Benisch also serves as President of the St. Louis
Association of Code Enforcement (SLACE).
Benisch said, "It's
an honor to be elected to the Board of AACE. I
plan to work hard to strengthen the organization
and grow our membership. I appreciate the trust
our membership has put in me in electing me to
this position."
Benisch joins David Park,
Jim Fossell, Robert Gillis, David Reyburn and
Tamara Schenke as MACE members who have served as
AACE officers.

gave an informative presentation on mold
abatement at the November 16 meeting of the St.
Louis Association of Code Enforcement. Alford has
also presented seminars at the 2010 and 2011
MACA/MACE Educational Conferences. Below is a
