Business Meeting Produces By-Law
Changes, New Board Members

March 14, 2010 -- MACE members enacted several By-Law changes and voted in two new board members at the organization's 18th Annual Business Meeting, held March 11 in Columbia.

By-Law Changes
Members rejected a By-Law proposal that would have eliminated term limits for officers. The titles of three board positions were changed with approval of the membership. The office of First Vice President became Vice President, the office of Second Vice President became Professional Development Director and the office of Third Vice President became Membership Director. A change in officer's duties was also approved as the Vice President will now chair the Audit Committee instead of the Treasurer. Another change approved will allow voting by email or fax. In the past, voting could only occur by those in attendance at the Annual Meeting.

New Members Join Board
Three new members of the Board of Directors were sworn in at the March 11 meeting. John Parks, who was appointed earlier this month to fill the unexpired term of Jeff Vogel, who resigned due to layoff, was sworn in as Membership Director (formerly Third Vice
President). Traey Lambertz ran unopposed for Sergeant-At-Arms. He replaced Gary Schlottach, who could not run due to term limits. Lisa Bullock defeated incumbent LeRon Ford in the race for Treasurer, the only contested race on the ballot. James Sisk ran unopposed for another term as Professional Development Director (formerly Second Vice President).

Outstanding Educational Presentation
Robyn Hamilton (right) gave an interesting and informative presentation on Hoarding, Stress Management and Team Building, all pertinent topics to Code Enforcement professionals.

Gresham, Milatovic Honored
Herlaine Gresham of St. Louis County was awarded the 2010 MACE Code Enforcement Officer of the Year honor. Gresham also serves as Secretary of the St. Louis Association of Code Enforcement. Pat Milatovic, who retired last month from the St. Charles Police Department, received a plaque in honor of his service. Milatovic was the 2009 MACE Code Enforcement Officer of the Year and previously served as First Vice President of the St. Louis Association of Code Enforcement.

Past Presidents, MACE Founder In Attendance
Four of MACE's nine Past Presidents were in attendance at the 2010 Annual Meeting. They were David Park (left), MACE founder and the organization's first President (1992-95), Past President Jim Fossell (1997-98), Past President (2003-05) and current Vice President (2009-11) Johnny Benisch, and Immediate Past President Pearline McFall (2005-09).

Next Up, Educational Conference
The next big event for MACE members is the MACA/MACE 2010 Educational Conference, slated for April 7-9 at Port Arrowhead in the Lake of the Ozarks. This promises to be an outstanding two and a half day event with two full days of seminars. Click
