Tru TV Seeks Code Enforcement
Professionals For "All Worked Up"

August 25, 2010 -- Tru TV's "All Worked Up" is a series that goes on the job with people whose work entails delivering bad news or dealing with difficult situations where the recipient may explode in a rage. Whether it is serving subpoenas, parking violations, or towing cars, there is never a dull moment in this half-hour of non-stop action.

Casting Producer Danielle Gervais is seeking Code Enforcement Officials to be featured in the series' third season. "We're looking for outgoing and dynamic Code Enforcement Officials who manage to keep smiles on their faces, and their sanity, while working a truly tough job," Gervais said.

The documentary-style series features people working in challenging jobs that consistently test their patience, will power and sanity. Gervais said that as part of their search, they are looking for the ultimate Code Enforcement Official to take part in this exciting new series and show what it takes to stay tough and in control while making sure rules are followed.

Gervais said, "We’re looking for outgoing folks who are passionate and proud of what they do and are willing to show us the ropes when it comes to their job and what it takes to succeed when things get tough – the crazier the stories, the better. The documentary-style show would profile these individuals over the course of a week and would focus on the job from their point of view."

MACE Members Attend First Joint
Educational Conference With MACA

Attendees chose from a variety of educational topics including classes on the IBC and IRC, SAVE (Structural Assessment & Visual Evaluation Training) certification, Narrow Walls, Electrical Safety and Grounding, and Mold.

The Resort at Port Arrowhead played host to the gathering, which was topped off by a banquet the evening of April 8. During the half-day session on April 9, members learned about efforts in the state legislature to enact the first state building code in Missouri.

Business Meeting Produces By-Law
Changes, New Board Members

March 14, 2010 -- MACE members enacted several By-Law changes and voted in two new board members at the organization's 18th Annual Business Meeting, held March 11 in Columbia.

By-Law Changes
Members rejected a By-Law proposal that would have eliminated term limits for officers. The titles of three board positions were changed with approval of the membership. The office of First Vice President became Vice President, the office of Second Vice President became Professional Development Director and the office of Third Vice President became Membership Director. A change in officer's duties was also approved as the Vice President will now chair the Audit Committee instead of the Treasurer. Another change approved will allow voting by email or fax. In the past, voting could only occur by those in attendance at the Annual Meeting.
John Parks Appointed To MACE Board

March 7, 2010 -- Layoffs in municipal government are an unfortunate reality facing many of us in today's economy. That reality hit home for a member of the MACE Board of Directors last month. Third Vice President Jeff Vogel (left) was laid off from his position as a Code Enforcement Officer for the City of Belton and subsequently stepped down from his position on the MACE Board.

Kansas City's John Parks (right) has been appointed to fill the vacancy and has assumed the position of Third Vice President. John also serves as President of the Heartland Association of Code Enforcement (HACE).
